The Crooked Truth

The Crooked Truth: An Introduction

11 May 2020

When a situation makes you want to cry, we suggest that you come and find a podcast or a blog to make you feel a bit better. For example, have you ever lost your balance and ended on the floor during a Skype meeting for work? No? Well, I have… It was mortifying but my friends found the story hilarious.

Living with Cerebral Palsy poses a few challenges as does growing up! When you combine Cerebral Palsy with the reality of adjusting to adulthood, you get a whole lot of stories. Some stories are sad, some stories may be shocking and other stories are just amusing. However, every story provides an opportunity for ourselves and other people to learn.

The Crooked Truth Podcast and Blogs are about providing young adults with Cerebral Palsy to discuss the matters that are both important and unique to us. We want you to understand that you are not alone in the challenges you face and show you potential solutions.

The first series of the Crooked Truth Podcast is based on the Freedoms, designed and promoted by the Cerebral Palsy Society of New Zealand’s Youth Alliance. The Freedoms are a youthful representation of fundamental human rights. By speaking about our personal experiences of each of the freedoms, we are hoping to spark discussions and questions from you.

Similarly, the blogs have come from our personal experience of living with Cerebral Palsy. From learning to shave and drive to finding a job or going on a date, these blogs address everyday experiences and the extra challenges of living with Cerebral Palsy.

If you have something that you would like to know about, flick an email to jordon@cpsociety.org.nz and we will try and answer your questions. In the meantime, enjoy the Crooked Truth Podcast and Blogs. Hopefully, you don’t laugh so much that you lose your balance.
