Dear Members,

The last few months have been a challenging time for us all.

The Board would like to acknowledge our staff for their efforts to stay focused and energised through what has been a period of uncertainty and change in the context of the Covid 19 environment and other factors.

While the lockdown period was a difficult one, we know that our members were incredibly well-supported by staff and the Board deeply appreciates their willingness to adapt and be flexible during this time.

Recent months have also been challenging financially and the Cerebral Palsy Society has been under financial pressure for some time now. The Board is currently developing a plan to safeguard the Society and balance its short, medium and longer term interests as it faces significantly reduced cashflow.

Financial pressures have included:
· An increase in operational costs
· Fundraising expectations not being met
· Impact of Covid-19 on our investment revenue and uncertain financial markets.

Against this backdrop the Board has needed to step in to review and assess the situation in order to be able to make appropriate decisions. We are currently working through this process. Over the coming months we will undertake a review of our programmes to better understand how well they are meeting your needs. This review will ask for your input too, and we look forward to receiving your feedback when the time comes.

Rest assured, the Society’s commitment to enhancing the lives of our members remains our most important goal. We also have a responsibility to protect the long-term interests of the Society, to ensure we can continue to serve our members, both now and in the future.

We will share our interim programme offering with you early next week.

We know that this type of process can be unsettling, but we wholeheartedly believe that by making good decisions, with your best interests at heart, we can ensure that the Society continues to enhance the lives of people with CP for many decades to come.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to sharing more information with you over the coming months.
