Challenge incorporates fitness and fun – Wellington Round the Bays 2025
07 Nov 2024
Cerebral Palsy Society member Connor Adamson is a man on a mission – and he’s looking for people who live with Cerebral Palsy to join him.
The Wellington resident, who is GMFCS level 2 and uses a walking stick, took part in the Gazley Volkswagen Wellington Marathon 10km event in 2023.
“While I did succeed, I wasn’t as prepared as I could have been and frankly finished the event a bit worse for wear,” he says.
But the experience didn’t deter Connor, who works full time as a software developer.
He has his sights set on walking the 4.8km event at Round the Bays Wellington, on February 16, 2025.
“I want to do Round the Bays because while challenging, it is something I feel I can achieve if I put the work in.
“I am interested in seeing what I can achieve this time with proper training, and what the aftermath will be this time round.”
The host of the Cerebral Palsy Society’s Wellington Coffee Group is inviting other people with Cerebral Palsy, their families and friends to join him and has created a team called Cerebral Palsy Wellington.
He says another motivator for him is the opportunity to meet other Wellingtonians who live with Cerebral Palsy.
“It isn’t about finishing the event, that would just be a bonus. It is about meeting up as a community and having fun as a group,” he says.
Connor will be participating in the Walkers and Non-Competitive Mobility group and has put together some useful information about signing up.
