NEWS & UPDATES
Christmas wishes and December news from the Cerebral Palsy Society
22 Dec 2022
Kia ora koutou katoa, and Meri Kirihimete (Merry Christmas), to all our members,
Can you believe it!? Christmas Day is just around the corner!
Whether Christmas is a special family time for you, or a time to reflect and remember, we hope all your preparations for the festive season are going well.
While many places have been winding down for the year, it’s been a busy time for the Society, and we’ve got a few things we want to update you on before we shut down for the year.
GetDriving
Earlier this month we were incredibly excited to launch our latest grant programme getDriving.
getDriving recognises that obtaining a driver license and learning to drive is more expensive for people who have Cerebral Palsy compared to their able-bodied counterparts.
The grant provides current financial members of the Cerebral Palsy with funding for driving lessons, enabling them to gain their Restricted Driver License.
To get the getDriving programme off the ground, the Cerebral Palsy Society has received a limited amount of funding from two generous sources, that will provide approximately 30 members with lessons.

Christmas shut down
The Cerebral Palsy Society team is operating on skeleton staff this week and we will be shutting down for the holidays at midday on Friday, December 23.
Please get in touch before 4pm, Thursday, December 22 for e-card top ups and general queries, so we have enough time to help you. Our phones and emails will not be monitored during the holiday break.
Staff will start returning to their desks from Monday, January 9. We would appreciate your patience while we have skeleton staff on deck at the start of the year.
Coffee Group during the holiday season
All coffee groups have been meeting in December, but will not run in January 2023.
Coffee groups will kick off for the New Year in February.
Coffee groups are currently held in:
– Royal Oak, Auckland – please note a new venue for 2023 is to be confirmed
– Manukau, Auckland
– Masterton
– Parklands, Christchurch – please note there is a new venue for 2023
– Addington, Christchurch
Please note, the coffee group on the North Shore, Auckland, is no longer running
