Goodness me – where has the time gone? Time has flown by and it’s already the end of August.  
The good news is that Spring is getting closer, the flowers are blooming, and the weather is (slowly) warming up.  


Cerebral Palsy Society’s 2024 AGM 

Our AGM is being held on Sunday, October 6 (World CP Day) and all nominations for the Executive Board and remits need to be submitted by 4pm today 

 

You’ll find the information for this year’s AGM, including nomination forms, here: www.cerebralpalsy.org.nz/governance 

Voting opens on Monday, September 9 and all the information will be sent to you via email from the team at electionz.com. Voting closes at 4pm on Friday, October 4. 

The AGM itself is being held via Zoom at 2pm on Sunday, October 6. RSVP to cpsociety@cpsociety.org.nz by 4pm on Friday, October 4 and we’ll send you the Zoom link.  


Be Green & Be Seen 2024 

Be Green & Be Seen is just over a month away and we need YOU to get involved!  

When you get behind Be Green & Be Seen you’ll be helping raise awareness of Cerebral Palsy – Hōkai Nukurangi and the Society, and raising vital funds so we can keep supporting you – our members.  

Get your workplace involved, your child’s school or kindy. How about a green-themed morning tea for your neighbours?

If you feel like doing something good for yourself while you do something good for the Society, why not get involved in our #beACTIVE aspect of Be Green & Be Seen 
Simply pick an activity that works for you and your family, friends or colleagues, create a fundraising page and then ask people to support you by making a donation.

Good in the Hood 

We are delighted to have been selected for Z Energy’s Good in the Hood programme at two Auckland stations! 
Z is sharing $1 million with local community groups across the country, and you get to have a say in where the money goes.

e-Card reminders 

GET YOUR E-CARD TOPPED UP IN ADVANCE 

e-card top ups (outside of the automatic top ups carried out at the start of the funding round) are now done on a weekly basis, by our e-card provider. 

If you require a top up, please contact us in advance of needing your funding by phone on 0800 503 603 or email cpsociety@cpsociety.org.nz 
Top up requests received before 4pm on a Thursday will be processed by the following Monday. 
You will receive notification from our team via email, text or phone call that your top up is complete. 

Please make sure you have enough funds on your e-card before attempting to make a purchase or getting into a taxi.

HOW TO CHECK YOUR E-CARD BALANCE 

It’s easy to check the balance on your e-card!  

Simply:  
– Go to https://ecardsolutions.nz/portal/cps/
– Check your last receipt
– Or go to www.cerebralpalsy.org.nz, click the Dashboard button, sign in and click the “Check Your E-Card Balance” button.

Coffee groups

Have you been to one of our coffee groups yet?    

The refreshments are on us! A companion, support worker and/or family member is welcome to accompany members to these groups. Up to $15 worth of refreshments per person is provided. 

Coffee groups are currently held in Auckland, Masterton, Wellington and Christchurch.   
We love welcoming new people to the groups, so please get in touch if you’re interested in attending.

Parafed Waikato 
Parafed Waikato is a membership organisation that promotes and provides sport and recreation for people with physical disabilities and visual impairments. They have a youth group with more than 60 members. Youth membership is an annual $20 fee and all sports are provided at no cost. 

Their ‘Have a Go’ sports days are an opportunity to try out a new sport or to just go along with friends and family to have a fun day out.
