The Cerebral Palsy Society at the EACD

The Cerebral Palsy Society’s Researcher and Member Support Advisor Amy Hogan has spent June 3-6 in Galway, Ireland at the European Academy of Childhood-onset Disability (EACD) 2026 Conference.
The conference attracted more than 1000 delegates from 64 countries.

Attending the conference is a great opportunity for the Cerebral Palsy Society to glean from international knowledge and practice, strengthen ties with Cerebral Palsy and disability organisations from around the world and broaden our advocacy impact.
Amy met with a number researchers and clinicians from around the world, including:
- Dr Wade and Carol Shrader from America.
Wade is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, division chief of the Nemours Cerebral Palsy Center, and is on the board of directors of the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine.
Carol is CP Program Manager at Nemours Children’s Health.
They have two adult children who live with CP. - Dr. Peter Rosenbaum from Canada. Peter is co-founder of CanChild, a research centre.
- Arnab Seal from the United Kingdom. Arnab is a consultant neurodevelopmental paediatrician in the National Health Service.
- John Coughlan, Isabel Coughlan Costa and their son David, who lives with CP, from Luxembourg. John is the Secretary General of the International Cerebral Palsy Society and Cerebral Palsy Europe.
- Hazel Killeen from Ireland. Hazel is president of the EACD Annual Congress 2026 and Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at the University of Galway.
