Q: What type of grants does the Cerebral Palsy Society offer?

A: Individual Grants – to assist current, financial, Individual members of the Cerebral Palsy Society to obtain items or services that mitigate the effects of living with Cerebral Palsy. Grants should assist a person’s independence and/or quality of life, or in the case of a child, also that of the parent/family. 

Academic Grantsto enable current, financial, Individual members of the Cerebral Palsy Society to participate in adult educational opportunities. 

Organisation Grantsavailable to organisations for the purpose of assisting people with Cerebral Palsy.


Q: Am I eligible for a grant from the Cerebral Palsy Society? 

A: Grants are available to members who are residents in New Zealand and have New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency. 

The recipient/beneficiary of the grant must be a current financial member of the Cerebral Palsy Society and have a membership number. 


Q: How do I apply for a grant? 

A: To apply for a grant, the correct application form must be filled in and all relevant documentation provided. Application forms for all the grant opportunities are available online 


Q: What do I need to provide as part of a grant application?  

A: For your grant application to be processed and passed on to the Grants Committee for consideration, your application must include:  

  • The completed application form  
  • A quote from a supplier 
  • Two letters of support from a family member or friend. If the application is for medical or disability equipment, one support letter must be from a medical or health professional.

Q: What is the closing date for grant applications? 

A: For your application to be considered by the Grants Committee, the Cerebral Palsy Society must have received your application by the last Friday of the month, except in the month of December. Applications are not considered in January. 


Q: How often are the Grants Committee meetings held? 

A: The Grants Committee meets on the first Tuesday of every month, except January. Applications are not considered in January. 


Q: When will I hear the outcome of my application? 

A: You will hear whether your application has been accepted, declined or deferred by the Grants Committee within seven days of the meeting.
