NEWS & UPDATES

Be Green & Be Seen 2025 – what a month it’s been so far!

14 Oct 2025

We’re almost half way through October and I just wanted to check in to see how Be Green & Be Seen has been for you and your whānau.

I also wanted to share some of the incredible things that have been happening around the motu as people shine a green light on Cerebral Palsy – Hōkai Nukurangi this month.

The team here at the Cerebral Palsy Society have absolutely loved seeing the photos come through of members and organisations who have been getting involved.

If you haven’t had a chance to celebrate Be Green & Be Seen yet, no worries – there’s plenty of time to set something up. And best of all – it doesn’t have to be in October. You can shine a green light on Cerebral Palsy – Hōkai Nukurangi any time of the year!

Be in to win

To celebrate Be Green & Be Seen we’re giving CPS members the chance to win! All you need to do is send us photos of you and your whānau, friends, or colleagues celebrating all things green throughout October.

Each photo submitted puts you in the draw to win a $50 Z Energy gift card!

Email your photos to cpsociety@cpsociety.org.nz or send them to us via DM on Facebook or Instagram, and be sure to let us know you’d like to enter our photo competition.
One lucky winner will be drawn, at random, on Monday November 3.

Here are a few photos of members we’ve received so far!

If you’re submitting photos, please note: They might get used on our website and social media channels, in future newsletters or future editions of The Review magazine or our Annual Impact Report, so please only send photos where permission is given for us to publish them.

Va’s presentation and performance

CPS member Vaotane (Va) Filemoni used World Cerebral Palsy Day on October 6 as an opportunity to share what it means to her to live with CP, and her love of ballroom dancing. The audience was treated to a wonderful performance!

Watch her story, and see her perform here:

Be Green & Be Seen morning tea

A few of our staff got together to celebrate Be Green & Be Seen over morning tea. It was easy to organise and a fun morning of all things green – baking, grapes, kiwifruit and dress ups.

Check out our video:

Where are they now…..

This year, we’ve caught up with a few of the faces of previous Be Green & Be Seen campaigns. We wanted to see where they are now.

From overseas holidays to new jobs, new hobbies and new roles….you can check out their updates here…..

Wider support

We’ve been absolutely delighted with the support shown for Be Green & Be Seen so far this month by our friends in the health and disability sector. We’re very grateful to them for helping raise the profile of Cerebral Palsy – Hōkai Nukurangi.

Brolly Sheets & Independently You have a wonderful special offer that runs until tomorrow (Wednesday, October 15).

They are offering you 10% off selected green products in their best-selling range of bandanas, bibs, kids and toilet training products, AND they’ll donate 10% of the sale price of each item to the Cerebral Palsy Society! How generous is that? Shop now at:

The Glass Ceiling Arts Collective got in on the act too. Check out all these smiling faces who are shining a light on Cerebral Palsy – Hōkai Nukurangi.

Meanwhile the team at Cubro have set up a Givealittle page, staff out on the road are dressing in green and have invested in green lollies for the people they visit.

They are holding a company wide ‘Green Day’ on October 17 with prizes for best dressed.
They have also challenged their Community Care General Manager to have green hair for a day if the team raises $500. We’re watching with great anticipation to see if he does it or matches the funds raised to get out of it.

CP and Me

Have you watched the first episode of CP and Me yet?

It aired on TV 1 on October 5, the day before World Cerebral Palsy Day. Episode two is on Sunday October 26, TV 1 at 11.55am.

The two-part series features nine people who live with CP and is a raw, funny and informative view into what life with CP looks like for them.

If you miss either episode you can watch them on the Attitude YouTube channel:
